What to Expect During a Kambo Session
Sacred Space
Respect the ceremonial environment and the guidance of the practitioners. They may incorporate specific rituals or traditions to honor the sacred nature of the ceremony.Intention Setting and Focus
We begin with a brief moment of intention setting to ground you in the experience. This helps you center your focus on what you want to release or accomplish through Kambo. Examples of reflective questions to guide your intention may include:What do I need to heal in my body?
How do I want to feel after the Kambo ceremony?
What am I asking to receive?
What might be holding me back from the life I want?
A typical Kambo ceremony may last up to 2-3 hours. During this time, allow yourself to fully engage with the medicine and trust the process.

After setting your intention
Opening Ceremony (Optional)
The opening ceremony often includes other Amazonian medicines to prepare the mind and body for Kambo:Sananga – This sacred medicine is applied as eye drops, often used to treat and prevent ocular diseases, providing mental clarity and focus for the ceremony.
Rapé (pronounced “Hapé”) – A traditional blend of medicinal plants applied to the nasal passages to open and cleanse the energetic channels.
Kambo Application
The practitioner applies Kambo through small points, known as "Gates," created on the skin using a vine or incense stick. Once applied, the Kambo quickly enters the lymphatic system, triggering a natural purging process that may include physical sensations such as sweating, nausea, or vomiting.Purging and Release
The effects of Kambo typically last between 15 to 40 minutes, during which you may experience a range of emotions and sensations. Embrace any discomfort as a natural part of the cleansing process; this is the medicine working to restore balance within your body.Rest and Recovery
After the purging phase, you’ll be given time to rest, rehydrate, and integrate the experience. Many report feeling a deep sense of clarity, calm, and renewed energy in the hours and days following a Kambo session.
